A.M.E. Logan Still Driving, Delivering Avon Products

A 97-year-old Jackson woman may very well be the oldest working Avon lady in the country, the company said.

A.M.E. Logan still drives and delivers Avon products to her customers.

“Everybody asks me when I drive up, they say, ‘Are you still driving?’ I say, ‘That’s my car there,’” Logan said. “It makes it a lot of fun. Everybody wants to know, ‘How old are you?’ And of course, I am very happy to tell them that I am as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth, and I let it go at that.”

Avon officials said they knew of several Avon representatives who were in their 80s, but Logan is the only one that they know who is in her 90s.

“I have purchased three cars by selling Avon. It’s a lifesaver if you get on out there and work with it,” she said.

Logan is the mother of four children. She said her father was an African Methodist Episcopal minister and he named her for the church.
