CLEVELAND: Plans are moving ahead for a casino in downtown Cleveland.

The owner of the landmark Terminal Tower skyscraper and adjacent Tower City enclosed shopping mall announced a land deal Thursday for the casino to be built by a company led by Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.

Forest City Enterprises says Detroit-based Rock Gaming LLC will acquire 16 acres of land overlooking the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) River behind Tower City. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

The deal includes a multiyear lease for the old Higbee department store building to house the casino on an interim basis.

Ohio voters last year approved casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
