Frank Jackson will become Cleveland’s longest-serving mayor when he takes the oath of office this morning.

He’s the only Cleveland mayor to win four four-year terms. Councilman Zack Reed posed the toughest challenge to the mayor’s incumbency yet, but Jackson still won with about 60 percent of the vote.

In an interview after election day, Jackson said he heard from people during the campaign who wanted more urgency from city hall.

“And that people are suffering in many respects, and that they are, they want bureaucracy to respond quicker to their needs,” he said.

He begins his next four years with a few big projects from last term still in progress, such as the police consent decree signed with the Justice Department and a plan to invest in hard-hit neighborhoods.
