Kim Kardashian announced the birth of her baby boy on herwebsite on in December 2015. According to E Online, the site read:

To Our Fans: Kanye and I Welcome Our Baby Boy; Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West welcomed the arrival of their son this morning. Mother and son are doing well.

Kim was extremely open with her struggles with this pregnancy. She revealed every hurdle to her fans on her official website. She even confessed that she pushed her due date up because of heath concerns after the doctor informed her she could possibly have gestational diabetes.

“I had early-onset preeclampsia and I had to deliver at 34 weeks, almost six weeks early,” Kim explained on her website this month, explaining that after her first birth, her “placenta stayed attached inside my uterus, which is a condition called placenta accreta.”

“My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails,” she added of the painful experience. “My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before.”

“With the issues I had last time, my risk of having preeclampsia and placenta accreta is increased and there’s not a whole lot I can do to prevent it, so my anxiety is a little high leading up to my delivery,” she admitted on her website.

This second child is a great blessing to Kim and Kanye because they thought Kim would not be able to get pregnant. Kim mentioned that she thought about considering a surrogate after not being able to conceive her second child after multiple tries. Once pregnant, she was completely candid about her journey to baby number two.

“I didn’t know that I was going to be so open with [my fertility challenges],” Kim says. “But meeting people at my fertility doctor’s office who are going through the same things I’m going through, I thought, ‘Why not share my story?’ It’s been really emotional. One doctor told me I would need my uterus removed after I had another baby — I could only have one more.”

She continues, “One was like, ‘You should get a surrogate.’ The other one was like, ‘Oh, no, you’ll be fine.’ Then I called my doctor, and he’s like, ‘You know what? I believe — we’ll get through it.’”

Kim confesses that it wasn’t always easy. “There are definitely times when I walked out [of the doctor’s office] hysterically crying,” she recalls. “And other times when I was like, ‘Okay, everything’s looking good, it’s going to be this month!’ The waiting and waiting has been a roller coaster.”

I think it was really brave of her to be this open about her battle with pregnancy. Maybe this will encourage the women who feel broken and ashamed about their struggle to conceive.

Although their journey was a rough one, I am happy for Kim K and Kanye. I now wonder what they will name their son. Southeast?
