CLEVELAND, OHIO: July 12, , 2010 . . . The Cuyahoga County Administration Building, located at the corner of Lakeside and Ontario (1219 Ontario) served as the backdrop as
Michael L. Nelson, Sr., attorney, civic activist and former political analyst for WKYCTV3 launched his bid to represent the 7th District ofthe newly created Cuyahoga County Council.
Nelson who has been endorsed by Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge, State Senator Shirley Smith, State Representative Elect Bill Patmon, Ward 8 Councilman Jeff Johnson, Ohio State School Board Member-at-Large Martha Harris, the Reverend C.J. Matthews, and the Cuyahoga County Young Democrats will be joined by other community leaders as he outlines the issues that he believes will make the newly formed Council an effective forum for the people of Cuyahoga County.
Nelson who has served on several public boards and commissions and received numerous civic awards has been a longtime resident of the District, having attended Glenville High School. Prior to practicing law, Nelson worked for the Glenville Development Corporation as Housing Director. He also operated a computer training school in the community.
Nelson states that it is symbolic that his campaign starts on the very steps where FBI agents marched out with numerous boxes of public records, all related to allegations of public corruption. “Our community has witnessed a loss of political integrity which has destroyed the confidence of people in county government. Every aspect of county government including many hardworking employees has been tainted by the actions of a few. The road back will be long and painful, but I am committed to the rebuilding of that confidence.”
