Cleveland schools CEO Dr. Eugene Sanders spoke Thursday at the opening of a new high school for 9th and 10th grade students.

New Tech will be housed on the campus of East Tech High School.

Part of the campus has been completely gutted to make way for a new 21st century state-of-the-art high school. The model of the New Tech program is centered on project-based learning and a hands-on approach.

They have a one-to-one computer ratio so that students have all the research capabilities they need. The approach is part of a nationwide program made up of more than 60 high schools in 14 states.

New Tech is the second school of its kind Ohio, and the other in is on the west side at Garrett Morgan.

It’s not too late for students to enroll, and they can contact the school for more information.
