Downtown Cleveland: The District of Design is proud to announce the Cleveland Furniture and Millwork Fair on July 14th and 15th at the Halle Building in downtown Cleveland.
The fair-the first of its kind-will bring together Northeast Ohio’s finest furniture and millwork manufacturers with Cleveland-area’s unique design community and professionals. Currently, over 30 furniture makers and millworkers are
registered, including larger and small Amish furniture and millwork manufacturers of various sizes from Holmes County; individual artisan woodworkers based in Cleveland and local organizations that focus on design techniques and sustainability, such as Cleveland Institute of Art and A Piece of Cleveland. In fact, there was such a positive response
from vendors that booth space is sold out.
There will be a series of seminars, such as Green Manufacturing, Designs and Color Trends, as well as How to do Business with Interior Designers and American Campus Communities. The seminars will be held to inform furniture makers and buyers on the latest design and color trends in the industry, as well as how manufacturers can expand their client base to include the largest institutional consumers of furniture and millwork. A total of eleven free courses and seminars are being offered.
There will be a catered V.I.P. reception on Tuesday evening from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Halle Building. Fair hours will be held from 8:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. each day. Public viewing hours will be from 3:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. both Wednesday the 14th and Thursday the 15th. The hours between 8:00a.m. and 3:00p.m. will be reserved for furniture
wholesalers and other large commercial buyers. Display models will be available for sale to the general public after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15th.
Tom Einhouse, Vice President of PlayhouseSquare Real Estate Services said, “this show is really what the District of Design is about-it’s about exposure and making contacts, and experiencing new ideas.” Furthermore, “this is key to bringing vitality to Downtown and to the area. This area would serve as a showcase where furniture and other consumer products created in the region could be displayed, elevating both local design and product manufacturing industries. The vision is
already beginning to come together with the move of the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative to Euclid and E. 13th Street. ”
Organized by Cleveland’s District of Design, with generous support from the City of Cleveland, Forest City, Sherwin Williams, MAGNET and others, the Cleveland Furniture and Millwork Fair is a sustainability and local economic development initiative. The Furniture Show ismade possible
through a partnership including Downtown Cleveland Alliance, Cleveland State University, Cleveland Institute of Art, PlayhouseSquare, City of Cleveland, Westlake Reed Leskosky, American Institute of Architects-Cleveland and Bialosky & Partners. According to Einhouse, he sees the Furniture Show as proving to be a catalyst for the District of
Design and wants to see long term relationships formed and valuable connections that benefit both the region and the State of Ohio. For more information about the Furniture Show visit: www.downtowncleveland.com/clevelandfurnitureshow
