Max’nOut Entertainment was up in the club last night withe the Macy’s Music Festival Weekend Giveaway at Gibb’s@Severance Circle.  Docman Entertainment has a nice ladies night after work mixer with reduced prices on drink…$1.00 Absolute shots.  Latorcia B. was the winner of  Macy’s Music Festival Weekend on July 30th & July 31st.  The prize package also included special advance screening movie passes to see ‘Salt’ with Angelina Jolie tonight and a lot of other goodies!  C-ya in Cincy next week!

‘Who Want To Be A Millionair’ held auditions in Cleveland at the Nautica Pavillion yesterday morning. Casting call was at 6:00am and Greater Clevelanders were up at ready to go!

The ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ audition consist of (2) qualifying preliminary scratch out test 1).  general knowledge (2).  Netflix Movie trivia.

The scratch out testing typically runs through midday/12noon!

Those tested will know if they have moved on to the next tier of the audition as they exit the test area. (Test are scanned immediately for results)

The next tier is the ‘One on One’ interview which will determine eligibility to appear as a contestant on an upcoming season episode of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionare.’ This interview process runs into the early evening/6p!

The average attendance for the auditions range from 500-1500 persons.

Eligilble contestants will be notified by mail (2) weeks prior to episode taping date.

The Tall Ships sailed into the Port of Cleveland late yesterday afternoon in a parade that was graceful and magnificent! The much anticipated spectators welcomed the ‘Parade of Stars’ in 90 degree+ temperatures as the parade kicked off the official ‘Tall Ship Festival’ running Thursday July 8th through Sunday July 11th.

Festival Activities

Enjoy Exhibits, Maritime Market Place and Family Entertainment. Take part in youth sail training activities dockside, visit the Festival Village and discover more about sailing and nautical products and services. Explore the Great Lakes United Green Village to learn how maritime activities along the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes are working to improve the environment. Ship ramps are unable to accommodate wheelchairs; dockside viewing only.

APPLEDORE IV

APPLEDORE V

Appledore IV and Appledore V are both owned and operated by BaySail, located in Bay City, Michigan. BaySail’s mission is “to foster environmental stewardship ofthe Saginaw Bay watershed and the Great Lakes ecosystem. Appledore IV, an 85 ‘ topsail schooner and her sister ship, Appledore V. a 65’ gaiftopsail schooner deliver BaySail’s youth training program called “Windward Bound”. . . 5-10 day voyages where young trainees are involved in every aspect of running a ship, from navigating and steering to galley duty.

UNICORN

Unicorn is a 1 1 8’ topsail schooner built in The Netherlands in the year 1 947 out of metals from old Gennan U.boats. SlY Unicorn now sails out of Asbury, New Jersey with proven on-board leadership and development programs for teenage girls, executive women and executive teams. The vessel welcomes women from all around the globe to sail aboard with Unicorn’s all-female crew through Unicorn’s “Sisters Under Sail” program in a mission to build confidence, enhance self-esteem, develop social conscience and teach the value of sisters working together toward a common goal.

RONALD AMUNDSEN

Roald Amundsen was built in 1952 as a deep-sea fish lugger and was equipped to service the military fleet of former East Germany. When the Berlin Wall came down, she became obsolete until a group ofvolunteers discovered and converted her into a traditional brig in 1992. Germany is still home to the 165’ brig, which serves as a sail- training vessel. She sails year-round globally and offers sail training experiences for people of all ages and experience levels. This is Roald’ 5 first trip to the Great Lakes. Berths are still available if you would like to jump on board and sail with her from Cleveland. No experience is necessary.

LYNX

Lynx is a 122’ square topsail schooner and replica ofa privateer schooner and Baltimore Clipper from the War of 1 8 1 2. She was a blockade-runner and offensive weapon of war and bore the “letter of marque”, meaning she was commissioned by the government to attack invading British vessels. Today’s Lynx hails from Newport Beach, California, and serves as a living history museum. She is fitted with period ordnance and flies flags and pennants from her 1812 era. Her crew members wear period uniforms and operate the ship in keeping with the maritime traditions ofthe 19th century. This is Lynx’ first time in the Great Lakes. She will spend the next few years here and on the East coast as part ofthe War of 1 8 1 2 commemoration.

DENIS SULLIVAN

Denis Sullivan was completed by over 900 volunteers in the year 2000 and has since served as the Flagship of Wisconsin and goodwill ambassador for the State of Wisconsin, while owned and operated by Discovery World, a museum in Milwaukee. Above all, the 137’ foot 3- masted schooner serves as a floating classroom. The Sullivan is the signature ship of the Great Lakes United Tall Ships Challenge 2010, helping to promote fresh water conservation and preservation throughout her voyage this summer.

HMS BOUNTY

HMS Bounty was built for the 1962 movie “Mutiny on the Bounty” starring Marion Brando, which tells the story of the famous maritime mutiny that occurred in the South Pacific in I 789. It was Marion Brando in fact who saved the ship from being destroyed at the end of filming. Thanks to Brando, the Bounty survived to appear in many movies including Treasure Island, “Pirates ofthe Caribbean — Dead Man’s Chest” and “Sponge Bob, Square Pants” as well as various documentaries.

FLAGSHIP NIAGARA

Flagship Niagara was built in 1988 as a reconstruction ofthe warship aboard which Oliver Hazard Perry won the Battle ofLake Erie during the War of 1812. All hands on board experience a one ofa kind adventure, as deckhands and trainees sleep in hammocks on a single berth deck, which is converted three times a day into a mess hall. Along with interpreting the War of 1812, her mission is to preserve the skills of square-rig seafaring. Niagara is the largest ship in the fleet at 198.’ She sails with professional crew and can carry up to 20 sail trainees.

EUROPA

Europa was launched in Hamburg in 1911 as a lightship in the entrance ofthe river Elbe. In her second life, which started after an 8~year refit in 1994, the Europa recommenced as a sail.­training vessel. The 1 85’ traditionally rigged barque now calls The Netherlands home. Europa’s approach to sail training includes getting trainees involved as much as possible in running a ship. Her most popular voyage is her annual trek to the Antarctic. This winter, after Antarctica, she will sail north to Northern European water to celebrate her centennial birthday. A very popular ship, her accommodations are exceptional. Berths are still available for adventurers who want to sail with her this summer. No experienced is necessary!

ROSEWAY

Roseway is a 137’ schooner, built in 1925 in Essex, Massachusetts as a private fishing yacht. Today she is operated by World Ocean School. which works to create and provide a method of experiential education at sea, that affords teens a practical application for their studies. as well as cultivating teamwork, community service, environmental responsibility, and cross—cultural friendships . to help them gain insight into becoming empowered, motivated, and engaged citizens. Today, after 85 years ofservice, she is one ofthe last Grand Banks schooners built in Essex, and a registered U.S. National Historic Landmark.

PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II

Pride of Baltimore II is a 157’ topsail schooner built in 1 988 and commissioned as a sailing memorial to her predecessor, Pride of Baltimore, which tragically sank off Puerto Rico in 1986. Pride of Baltimore II was built to the lines of an 1812.-era Baltimore Clipper. She sails to promote historical education regarding Baltimore Clippers, naval innovation, the War of 1812. and the writing of the “Star Spangled Banner”. She maintains an international sailing schedule. as she has sailed nearly 200,000 miles and has visited 200 ports in 40 countries around the globe.
