Invest in Children (IIC), Cuyahoga County’s early childhood system, has received the Roslyn Z. Wolf Award from the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) for outstanding contributions in the area of youth, family and education.  The $5,000 award will be utilized to enhance the parent engagement activities that are an essential component of the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Program at each of the 23 sites throughout the county which collectively serve over 1,000 children each year.

This year, the UPK theme is “Learning through the arts,” and in partnership with University Circle, Inc., a back to school event was held featuring hands-on activities for young children and their families at institutions in the University Circle area including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Music Settlement, and the Western Reserve Historical Society.

‘Creature’ starring Mehcad Brooks opens in theaters nationwide this Friday.  ‘Why Do Good Girl Like Bad Boyz?’ run of show is September 16th —–18th in the Palace Theatre at PlayhouseSquare.

Sankofa Fine Arts Plus celebrated 11 years of bringing the art community and patrons together in  Cleveland with he ‘Fine Art Expo’ this past Saturday and Sunday at Tri-C’s Eastern Campus.  Artist and Ethnic Vendors had the opportunity to  exhibit and sell their work.   Sanofa Fine Art Plus also produced a stunning fashion show featuring local designers with ‘Renaissance on the Runway: Fashion As Art’

The Children’s Museum of Cleveland  proudly  celebrated its 30^th Birthday in the month of June. The celebration included  new exhibits, educational programming, and dramatic play.  The Children’s Museum of Cleveland also presented a new program entitled “Blast From the Past,” highlighting components of past exhibits such as Magic Music Factory.  Timeless programming such as Little Lab and Block Party were also part of the celebration. As the only cultural and educational resource completely dedicated to young children in the Cleveland area, The Children’s Museum of Cleveland Takes Play Seriously!

Maxn’Out Entertainment partied at Nelson Inc’s 4th of July Festival over the holiday weekend.  The festival took place Friday July 1st and Saturday July 2nd at Voinovich Park.  The All-Star line-up that took the stage included Frankie Beverly & Maze, The Isley Brothers, Angela Winbush, KC & JoJo, Silk and Keith Washington.   It was fun in the sun all weekend long….well majority of the weekend!

The Cleveland Municipal School District celebrated it’s 12th Annual Family Festival this past weekend at the Great Lakes Science Center and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

‘Rock Your World With Steam’ celebrated the talents of over 3,000 students enrolled in over 70 CMSD schools. ‘The Rock Your World with STEAM’ (Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS and Math) Family Festival  featured a dazzling array of activities to inspire and empower students and their families.
